Back on the Road Exploring Pennsylvania’s Rye Whiskey Legacy

Over the last week, our team hit the road once again for production on our upcoming Pennsylvania rye whiskey documentary — traveling across southwestern Pennsylvania to continue uncovering the stories, people, and places that helped shape one of America’s most important whiskey traditions.

This latest trip brought us face-to-face with distillers, historians, and passionate advocates working to preserve and revive Pennsylvania’s deep whiskey heritage. Along the way, we spent time with our friends at Liberty Pole Spirits and Iron City Distilling, capturing interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, and the unique character that makes Pennsylvania rye whiskey unlike anything else in the country.

But this journey wasn’t only about distilleries. We also explored historic locations tied to the origins of American whiskey itself — places where the story of Pennsylvania rye began generations ago. Walking those grounds and hearing those stories firsthand continues to reinforce just how influential this region was in shaping American distilling culture.

What’s become increasingly clear throughout production is that Pennsylvania rye whiskey is far more than a spirit. It’s a story of craftsmanship, resilience, agriculture, immigration, rebellion, innovation, and revival. While many people associate whiskey history with Kentucky or Tennessee, Pennsylvania played a massive role in the early development of American whiskey — and that legacy is still alive today through the distillers carrying the tradition forward.

Every trip adds another layer to the story we’re working to tell, and this latest round of filming gave us an even deeper appreciation for the people dedicated to keeping Pennsylvania rye alive.

We’re excited to continue the journey and share more as production moves forward.

More updates — and a lot more whiskey history — coming soon!
